The Churches’ Child Protection Advisory Agency (CCPAS) today announced that it is to expand its reach beyond its traditional boundaries of just concentrating its protection on children in the church and within faith settings, and will now reach out to secular children.

A new comprehensive manual has been published focusing on child protection and good working practice whilst working with children. The manual will be entitled ‘Safeguarding Children and Young People’.

The manual has been based on a successful publication that has been previously used extensively in churches and faith organisations, which has already sold over 60,000 copies.

CCPAS has published the new manual in response to a large number of requests for a universal publication to cover the topic. Non-faith groups as well as para-church organisations had previously expressed how were unable to find a comprehensive user-friendly resource.

In addition, CCPAS has expanded its www.childprotectionuk.net brand, and a new manual has been produced, as has a childprotectionuk.net version of CCPAS’s very popular Workers Pocket Guide, which has already sold 250,000 copies to date.

The new Internet Pocket Guide for children and Young People has already seen large amounts of bulk sales being taken from schools and police forces across the country.

Child protection is vital for any organisation working with children and young people - not just churches or faith-based groups.

David Pearson, Founder CCPAS

David Pearson, the founder and Executive Director of CCPAS said, “We are delighted with the positive response we have had to our child protection courses and resources and we are confident that Safeguarding Children will be just as successful.

“Child protection is vital for any organisation working with children and young people - not just churches or faith-based groups. This new manual will help ensure that all children and young people, wherever they may be within society, are safeguarded - and that those working with them will be supported in the vital work they undertake.”
