Phil Creighton, former deputy editor of The Baptist Times, has been appointed to be the youngest ever president of the Baptist Men’s Movement. The appointment was made at the Movement’s “Resurrection” conference.

Creighton, will serve in the position for a two year team and is replacing Rev Elgan Evans, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Southsea, reports The Baptist Times.

During the conference, joined by 120 delegates, there was an exhibition featuring stands from the Sailors’ Society, Operation Agri and Tools with a Mission.

The Rev Ian Bunce, head of the mission department of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, spoke at the conference about the “Crossing Places” initiative, which will be launched next week to encourage churches to find ways to connect with the un-churched.

There were also seminars on “How to stay positive in a negative world” and on “Resurrection life”.

Creighton said, “I think this was a very successful conference, and a fantastic start both to my term as president and to what I hope will be a new and exciting time in the life of BMM.

“There was a lot of enthusiasm for the new venue, and it was great to see men getting to know each other and enjoying male company.”
