iPod Touch 6th generation media player to be launched with Apple iPhone 6s?

While the spotlight is on the iPhone 6s, the purported low-cost version of the chartbusting flagship iPhone 6, music-loving gadget users are still waiting for news about the iPod touch 6th generation, which they believe is something Apple should invest on as well.

The Cupertino-based company's Worldwide Developers Conference this year was initially believed to be the stage where the latest iteration of the much-loved media player will be introduced. Unfortunately, the event came and went and still no iPod touch 6g was unveiled.

Despite the bigger possibility of the iPod touch 5g being the last in the media player line-up, some media outlets are still convinced that its successor will come out in September alongside the iPhone 6s, boasting remarkable specs and significant upgrades.

It was always rumored that the iPod touch 6th generation will be powered by an A9 processor, which would make it snappier than every single one of the earlier versions. It is also believed to have a 1 GB RAM and a microSD slot, which will allow users to expand its storage to 128 GB.

Some reports say there will be two variants, one at 4.7 inches and another at 5.5 inches. There will also be an 8-megapixel camera on the back, as well as a Touch ID fingerprint scanner, which will allow it to have Apple Pay on board.

There are also reports talking about the device's pricing and color options. It is said it will come in colorful plastic back covers with a price tag ranging from $250 to $300.

While all these sound promising, these very specs are believed to be the reason Apple won't release a sixth generation iPod touch. Since iPhones can already function as multimedia player and since they already have most the said specs, the iPod touch 6g becomes rather unnecessary. On the business side, it might just hurt the sales of the company's smartphones since it will divide the attention of consumers.

Nevertheless, users can still wait for fall to see if Apple will release a new iPod touch.
