'Zoolander 2' casts Justin Bieber in unspecified role

Stiller and Bieber face-off in Zoolander 2 Justin Bieber/Paramount Pictures

"Zoolander 2" is starting to shape up with a wonderful cast led by series veterans Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Christine Taylor and Will Ferrell. Now they've added Penelope Cruz, Olivia Munn, Kristin Wiig, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and Billy Zane. A new report from IGN confirms that Justin Bieber can be added to that list.

Bieber posted via Instagram last Wed. a black and white photo of him and "Zoolander" star Ben Stiller facing off in a "Blue Steel" staring contest, with the hashtag #Zoolander 2. Not only was Bieber's "Blue Steel" impression noticeably quite good but fans have also noticed that the singer traded his long blonde locks of hair for a brown, spiky do-over.

Justin Bieber responded via social media with the hashtag #itsawignotmynewhair. Popular speculation indicates that Bieber is portraying Stiller's son, Derek Zoolander Jr., due to the similarities in their looks but that role was already filled in by Cyrus Arnold. Neither Bieber nor Stiller have given any comments on what specific role Bieber is to play in the film.

Bieber may not be a full-time actor but he is not entirely new to the job either. He had acting credits for two episodes of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and recently had a cameo role in the 2014 flick "Behaving Badly." He's had other films but those are concert films, such as his own 2013 3D concert film "Justin Biever's Believe."

The young singer also proved he had comedic acting chops when he appeared for an episode of "Comedy Central Roast," where he was mocked by several celebrities but was still capable of keeping up with rhetoric and funny comeback lines. He's also done voice over work for one episode of "The Simpsons."

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson announced that "Zoolander 2" was happening when they appeared at the Paris Fashion Week runway last March 20 2015, in costume and in character. A few hours later that same day it was announced that the sequel would release in theaters by Feb. 12 2016.
