Mobile users will now be able to view 60fps YouTube videos on their devices, just like on other platforms.
The videos will be available for both iOS and Android users, so no one will be missing out on the new offering.
YouTube originally announced plans to accommodate 60fps videos in June 2014, according to PC Magazine. Since then, the company has made the videos available on multiple platforms, including the desktop, Apple TVs, Playstation 3 and 4, and most livestreams.
While 60fps videos are now available on mobile, viewers who want to follow livestreams on the mobile YouTube app will still be limited to 30fps.
Also, the higher resolution 60fps videos are only going to be available via the mobile app from YouTube. This means viewers who will be using a mobile web browser and accessing YouTube from there will not be able to take advantage of the new offering.
Originally, YouTube began featuring 60fps videos as a way of appealing to gamers, according to Tech Crunch. With most video game trailers requiring more advanced technology to be viewed properly, especially on platforms such as YouTube, the company has done what it can to accommodate the growing audience as well as possible.
As of now, most 60fps videos available on mobile are also trailers for video games.
As part of YouTube's continuing efforts to cater to the growing gaming community, the company has also recently announced plans to move forward with the creation of YouTube Gaming, a new website entirely dedicated to video games. YouTube Gaming is set to debut in the summer and will be available on desktops and on mobile devices.
The new web site will be independent from You Tube and is intended to become a rival to the popular Twitch web site in terms of providing coveted in-game footage for newly released and upcoming titles.
