'Xenoblade Chronicles X' details: new map, full customization and more

The upcoming "Xenoblade Chronicles X" is indeed massive, from its map to its gameplay.

Confirmed during the latest Nintendo Direct broadcast, the new title will introduce a new map five times larger than the area explored in the previous "Xenoblade" game, and will be divided into five continents.

The first area where players will first be introduced is called Primordia, and the other regions consist of the lush green forests of Noctilum, Oblivia's valleys, the land of Sylvalum, and the continent of Black Steel, Cauldros.

Nintendo also confirmed that unlike most role playing games where the maps are obscured until certain conditions are met, all of the five continents for the title will be immediately made available. However, some areas in the massive map have enemies that would be too strong to conquer for early-level explorers. For help, they can take advantage of the game's co-op mode, where up to four gamers can finish quests by playing online.

The game will also offer full customization, as players can control everything about their character's appearance such as shape, height, gender, skin color, voice, and tattoos. In-game, they would also be introduced to Skells, or Dolls in the Japanese version. These Skells are transforming weaponized mechs that gamers can use to drive and fly across the map, using the mech to explore the open world. There will also be mech-based combat.

Players can also control their abilities as part of levelling up in different classes. As they gather and learn combat and defense skills, their Arts are also improved. They can then customize their Arts to suit their playing style.

No details yet have been bared on when "Xenoblade Chronicles X" will be released in the U.S. and Europe audiences. It will come out on April 29 in Japan.
