Windows just announced last Oct. 12 the release of Windows 10 Preview Build 10565, which is now available to participants in the Windows Insiders Fast Ring.

The latest build features several changes, including those found on the Start menu, personal assistant Cortana, and the entire desktop environment, as stated in the Windows blog post by Gabe Aul, head of Windows Insiders program.

The new build will also offer all-new apps as well as improved versions of Phone and Messaging and video apps.

As noted in the blog post, Skype messaging and video call experience will be integrated to the platform via its Messaging and Phone and Skype apps.

Users can now enjoy the communication apps with ease and they don't need to open Skype app itself to use it.

However, Windows did state that bugs are expected to appear, considering the build is an early preview.

Cortana also underwent some changes and now, the personal assistant is smart enough to understand notes that have been taken down — even if they're just scribbles.

Since its comprehension capabilities were improved, Cortana can now remind users of their tasks based on the numbers, locations, and times noted.

In addition, Cortana can also send email reminders to users two hours prior to a scheduled event.

Windows Insiders also get to enjoy a fresh look at the device icons to give a refreshing look to the Windows experience. The Registry Editor icon got its new look too.

Apart from new icons and new improvements, the blog also listed fixes done to problems found in earlier builds, including background audio playback from Groove and context menus sizing.

As mentioned earlier, the new build is not free from flaws and Microsoft also acknowledged that.

One of the noted issue is that the search box will not appear in locations where Cortana does not appear. Aul wrote that the team is still working to find a solution to that specific problem.
