Selene (Kate Beckinsale) is getting pulled back into the centuries-old war between Vampires and Lycans, and this time she is not messing around. In a recent interview, Beckinsale said that her character has always been a reluctant fighter, but she's about to show a different side of her in "Underworld: Blood Wars."

"Selene is at a really low ebb. You see a different side to her. [Her one-time mentor] Viktor has emerged as a traitor. [Her lover] Michael has disappeared. She's had a baby that she didn't know about," Beckinsale told Empire.

Director Anna Foerster also spoke about injecting new elements into the franchise.

"With 'Underworld' you have rules that are very specific to the franchise, but you can veer off from that. What I bring to this movie is a defined visual concept and some cool surprises. I think fans will see a new side to Selene," she said.

Well, change is good, but some fans are not going to be happy with the change made to Selene. Screen Rant noted that the change may turn off some of the audience and the film may end up in trouble because of it.

Moviegoers are already uncertain about the film since its release date was pushed back from December to January 2017. Blockbuster films usually come out during the holiday season, while industry insiders consider January as one of the "dump months."

As shown in a clip courtesy of GamesRadar, Selene is pulled back into action by David (Theo James) as he reveals that the Lycans led by Marius (Tobias Menzies) are looking for her and her daughter. Apparently, Marius wants her daughter's blood because it can give him limitless power.

Charles Dance is reprising his role as Thomas in "Underworld: Blood Wars," and a slew of new actors are also joining the cast for this movie including Menzies, Lara Pulver, Peter Andersson, Clementine Nicholson, Bradley James, James Faulkner, and Daisy Head.

"Underworld: Blood Wars" is set to premiere on Jan. 6, 2017 in the United States.
