The macabre anime series, "Tokyo Ghoul" has long shelled out its sophomore season and fans have been musing on when the next season will arrive. There are recent reports, though, that the show might have been shelved by the showrunners due to lack of content and storylines.
It was noted that as a result of the first two seasons' huge following, the production team was said to have been brainstorming for better story plots that could topple the previous seasons' success. However, it may well seem that the showrunners might need more time in creating the third season leading to fans feeling frustrated.
Another plausible reason for the speculated delay is the fact that the show is rumored to have been handed over by Studio Pierrot to its new production outfit, Madhouse.
Meanwhile, previous reports suggest that a movie adaptation is underway which is also quite tenable, though this has to be taken with a pinch of salt.
Fans might remember that the show's second installment somewhat turned its back from the original storyline in the manga series. Albeit the fans' negative response to the said move, the season still managed to garner an impressive amount of viewership among anime enthusiasts.
Despite the anime series' uncertain fate, spoilers about the yet to materialize season still manage to creep up. If these are anything to go by, it is said that the show will be zeroing in on the characters of Touka Kirishima, Furuta Nimura, and Ken Kaneki. Worrying about his safety, the latter is rumored to be altering his looks and will assume the persona of a detective named Haise Sasaki.
