'The Witcher 3' news: Gwent cards not expected to be available

Physical Gwent cards will soon become available to the delight of fans everywhere, but they may not be around for long.

According to iDigital Times, even though the physical Gwent cards themselves will indeed be released and become available for purchase, they aren't exactly being made accessible in the way fans might have hoped.

As of now, there are only two ways for fans to get their hands on the Gwent cards.

First is to get the physical copy of the upcoming "Witcher 3" expansion pack, known as "Hearts of Stone." The physical copy of the expansion pack is available for $20 and presumably, the Gwent cards will be included once the purchase has been made.

The other way to get the Gwent cards is through having ownership of the "Hearts of Stone" expansion digitally. Players who have purchased the expansion pack either as part of their season pass or as a stand-alone digital purchase can then gather proof that they have bought it, show it to CD Projekt Red and then they will become eligible to purchase the Gwent cards. The digital copy of "Hearts of Stone" is available for $10. The price of the Gwent cards, which will be sold separately, is still unknown.

CD Projekt Red has already indicated that they have a limited supply of the Gwent cards. The developer has also suggested that simply having the code needed to get the cards does not mean that a player will be getting them, so fans looking to complete their "Witcher 3" collection will need to act fast.

In related news, CD Projekt Red has also announced that the Gwent cards that will be purchased through the Redeem Gwent website will only be available in English, according to Geek Snack.

This runs contrary to the fact that the Gwent cards that will be included in the retail version of "Hearts of Stone" will be localized.
