The upcoming episode of "The Walking Dead" is set to bring more tension into the already action-packed season, as a polarizing character will be making a reappearance. Gregory will be making his return to the Hilltop in episode 3 of the show's eighth season.

In a new trailer released by the show, Gregory is seen returning to his former residence of Hilltop, but he finds himself locked out.

Fans will remember that the last time Gregory was seen was when he ditched Father Gabriel to die outside of the Sanctuary. He did this even after the priest saved his life from a horde of walkers.

Gregory arrived at the Hilltop in Gabriel's car, which he stole after ditching the good priest. He kept knocking and shouting at the game of the colony, begging to be allowed in.

When the gate finally opened a little, Gregory was questioned by Maggie about the whereabouts of Gabriel. Gregory lied and said he did not know who that person is and that he just found the car.

Maggie also angrily confronted Gregory for what he did during the premiere episode of the season, when he tried to turn the Hilltop Colony against Rick and Maggie by siding with their enemy, Negan. Gregory stood alongside him and even tried to get Rick's men to stand down.

In the end, his bold move did not turn out too well for him, and he was left without any allies. Will Hilltop welcome the cowardly traitor back into the colony, or will Gregory become walker meat sooner rather than later?

The upcoming episode will also explain the backstory of another character that recently returned after missing out several seasons of the show, Morales. The character was part of the original cast but has been absent from the screen since the very first season of the show.

"The Walking Dead" airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
