'The Walking Dead' game season 3 release date: 'A New Frontier' makes its way to gamers in November

Telltale Games held a panel at the recent PAX West convention and announced that season 3 of Telltale Games' "The Walking Dead" series will officially launch this coming November. As reported by Gamespot, the developers did not cite a more specific release date but they did reveal the episode's title: "A New Frontier."

As the title suggests it will move the series much further ahead than season 2 did for season 1. The third season will now begin four years after the ending of season 2, featuring an older Clementine who is also more independent in the zombie apocalypse.

Players will also take control of a brand new character, Javier, and his story will be the primary focus of the game although returning protagonist Clementine will also play a large part in the game's narrative.

"Javier will begin to unravel the mystery of who Clementine has become, as her story intersects with his - both of them still driven by the things they value most long after society's collapse," explained executive producer Kevin Boyle.

Telltale Games also announced that while the game is going to be released through the digital platform there will also be a physical disc version which also comes with the season pass, ensuring players can get the rest of the episodes for free when they release.

Like previous seasons the game will put a strong emphasis on player choices in terms of the narrative but the third season will implement a brand new graphics engine, the first update in the developers' video games since the first season of "The Walking Dead" had been released.

Because of the sudden shift of focus on Javier many fans of the franchise speculate that Clementine may die in season 3. There is one image showcased where she is holding a child, son of a character from season 2, but the more noticeable aspect is that it appears Clementine had lost a finger, likely bitten off by a zombie.
