'The Voice' season 8 recap: Battle Round and into the Knockout Rounds

Season 8 of the "The Voice" just ended its Battle Round and the Knockout Rounds are about to begin. One notable difference is that this time, there will be a three-way knockout system. Another addition is Nate Ruess, the former frontman of The Format and current frontman of Fun.

Nate, who also just launched his first solo album, will be the advisor for the contestants during the Knockout Rounds. He will appear starting March 23 and will be on the show for four episodes, guiding the contestants as they fight it out to reach the solo rounds.

"I'm super excited and always happy to lend whatever knowledge I have to other vocalists," Nate stated during an interview for BuzzFeed Music.

During the last Battle Round, Christina Aguilera had her singers Rob Taylor and Jeremy Gaynor perform Maroon 5's "Animals." Both contestants experienced difficulty hitting the high notes and whistles but in the end, Taylor won the battle.

Over at Team Pharrell, Sawyer Fredericks and Noelle Bybee duked it out as they performed "Have You Ever Seen the Rain." Both young stars appeared nervous during the performance but the song itself seemed tailor-fit for Sawyer's style and Noelle was eliminated by the end of the night.

Team Christina, Blake, and Adam were given the montage treatment. Christina favored Koryn Hawthorne over Vance Smith, Blake Shelton picked Brooke Adee over Bay Brooks, and Adam Levine picked Lexi Davila over Bren'nae DeBarge.

One of the main highlights of the evening was Pharrell William's sudden steal. It was his last remaining steal and he used in the battle between Blake Shelton's Cory Kent White and Jacob Rummell. Blake favored Cory but at the last minute Pharrell stole Jacob, allowing both to move to the Knockout Rounds.
