Okay, first things first. The gaming community knows that Naughty Dog is going to develop "The Last of Us 2." The first game was a hit after all. Naughty Dog writer Josh Scherr managed to stir things up when he made a little slip of the tongue last year. And then, there's voice actor Nolan North telling the crowd at Metrocon 2015 that he knows "they're doing Last of Us 2." But it has been relatively quiet since then. Has Naughty Dog been busy at work the past year?

Despite what some sources are saying, there haven't been any leaks recently. In fact, there haven't been any actual leaks since those slip-ups happened. So, it's time to take a look at what the rumor mill has to offer.

For the past few months, numerous reports have been saying that the sequel will feature new characters. Well, "The Last of Us" creative director Neil Druckmann did mention that more than a year ago. Besides, new characters are to be expected. It should be noted that Druckmann also said that they were thinking of ideas for Joel and Ellie to be part of the sequel.

Several sources say Naughty Dog may present "The Last of Us 2" at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2017. However, this is obviously a wild guess because the studio or any reliable gaming industry insider never mentioned this.

In other news, producer Sam Raimi recently told IGN that the film adaptation of "The Last of Us" has stalled due to creative differences between Druckmann and Sony. He said he can't help Druckmann sort things out since his company doesn't have the rights.

"Even though I'm one of the producers on it the way he set it up, he sold his rights to Sony, Sony hired me as a producer by chance, and I can't get the rights free for him so I'm not in the driver's seat and I can't tell you what Sony and Neil together will decide on," he explained.

Raimi did say that he was willing to stay on as a producer if the project moves forward.
