'Elder Scrolls 6' release date update: Game absent from E3 as developer aims for quality

The annual Electronic Entertainment Expo is a showcase of upcoming trends in the tech industry, particularly the gaming one. This year, big name game publisher and developer Bethesda Softworks made gamers excited by confirming "Fallout 4," the reboot for "Doom," and the launch of "Dishonored 2," which were just some of the details that the company enticed the public with.

However, some of the more hardcore Bethesda fans noted that one of the company's mainstays, "The Elder Scrolls" franchise, was conspicuously absent during the event. Observers who have been waiting for any information regarding "The Elder Scrolls 6" were disappointed to learn that the franchise was not up for an E3 presentation this year.

According to a report from Master Herald, Pete Hines, vice president of Bethesda, said he understands fans' disappointment when the company had forgone announcing any official updates for the upcoming "The Elder Scrolls" installment. Hines reportedly said that rather than bowing to pressure, Bethesda is instead working really hard to ensure that "The Elder Scrolls 6" will live up to fans' expectations, and would be published with top quality rather than massive scale.

Meanwhile, the most recent update for the franchise comes in the form of a patch for the rebranded and relaunched "The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited." Coming at a massive 15.9 GB, the update for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One improves over-all gameplay and design, as well as introduces fixes to some of the common glitches found in the game.

To keep the smoothness and fluidity of the gameplay, the title will also have a scheduled maintenance on both the PS4 and Xbox One consoles on June 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. EDT.
