'Big Bang Theory' season 9 spoilers: Raj continues dating Emily

Raj will throw caution to the wind and go after Emily in "The Big Bang Theory" season 9. CBS

Raj (Kunal Nayyar) will decide to continue pursuing Emily (Laura Spencer) in the upcoming season of the CBS series "The Big Bang Theory."

TV Line reports that the pair will continue dating in season 9, even after they have decided that they were not meant for each other last installment. Executive producer Steven Molaro revealed that it will be Raj who takes a leap of fate, as he professes his love to Emily.

"I think he knows in his heart that this might not be the right person for him, but, for a sensitive and insecure guy like him, the thought of choosing to break up with someone and then be alone is difficult. That's something he will be wrestling with further in Season 9," said Molaro.

Last season, Raj and Emily went out on a few dates, but they quickly realized that what they had could not be compared with the relationships of Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons). It appears, however, that Raj's fear of being single has conquered his misgivings regarding his feelings for Emily. Is this pair destined for heartaches?

Meanwhile, newlyweds Penny and Leonard will reportedly face problems so early into their marriage with the arrival of "the other woman." In an interview, Molaro said that Mandy (Melissa Tang), the girl whom Leonard kissed while still in the relationship with Penny, will be arriving to cause some trouble.

Last season, Penny and her fiancé were on their way to Las Vegas, presumably to get married, when the latter admitted his indiscretion. Leonard revealed that he had a fling with someone during his previous trip to the North Sea. Thoroughly shocked, Penny then started having misgivings regarding their relationship, and fans worried that they would call off their wedding.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 will premiere on Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
