'Tekken 7' new playable character Yoshimitsu introduced

One of the most iconic characters in the "Tekken" franchise gets a facelift.

Yoshimitsu, one of the more celebrated characters easily associated with the successful "Tekken" series, will be making a comeback in "Tekken 7" with a whole new look. The head of the Manji clan and certified cyberninja of the series now looks a bit more alien-like, and seems to be more of a crossover between an octopus and a titan than the above-average ninja warrior.

This is no surprise for hardcore "Tekken" fans though. Yoshimitsu is a character known for his bizarre looks that get changed and updated in every "Tekken" game, coupled with uncanny skills and moves. He has been known to fight as a ninja, warrior, samurai, and even as a kabuki.

Aside from gracing every "Tekken" title in numerous guises, Yoshimitsu is also known as a crossover character for other game titles, most notably the "Soul Calibur" franchise.

Yoshimitsu joins other notable characters like Kazuya, Jin, Heihachi, King, and others in the "Tekken" roster. They will also be joined by other new characters of which five were already revealed. The new characters are: Claudio of Italian descent; a Saudi Arabian fighter named Shaheen; Lucky Chloe; and Latin American Katarina. In addition, the title will also feature the first Filipina game character for "Tekken," Josie Rizal. With her name a play on the Philippines' national hero's name, Jose Rizal, Josie will grace the game sporting a getup based on the country's national colors and is reported to be a specialist in kickboxing and Eskrima, with a bit of muay thai.

Arcade players of "Tekken 7" will be able to see the new Yoshimitsu in action when the character is released on May 12.
