'Super Smash Bros.' Wii U tips and tricks: Unlock stages and characters without completing matches

The Wii version of the much-loved title, "Super Smash Bros.," has hit shelves in North America last Friday. It will take over Europe by Nov. 28 and it will go on a rollout by Nov. 29 in Australia and Dec. 6 in Japan. Excited players and fans know that this is the perfect time to get busy unlocking the rich character roster in the game. Those who patiently wait for its release will surely love where this article is going.

Guardian LV notes that the 3DS version of the game has the same set of characters, but the Wii version "has different conditions for unlocking the full roster and a few extra stages to take care of." In turn, Wii and 3Ds will unlock a different character as players reach a number of matches and a standard smash. But the task only sounds all too grueling and slow. So the site, sourcing various game outlets, provided a much better alternative.

After 10 matches, players will make Falco available and Wario will turn up either after 20 or after a 100-man melee is accomplished. It was discovered that Falco can also be unlocked by finishing off the Classic Mode, whatever difficulty players pick.

Lucina, on the other hand, typically gets unlocked after 30 matches. After 10 more, players will get Dark Pit. But by trouncing Master Core and dominating the Classic Mode with 5.5 as the lowest intensity, Lucina could turn up early. Dark Pit can be playable once an All-Star mode in normal difficulty is surmounted.

When players are on their 50th matchup, Dr. Mario is let loose. Yet, a hard difficulty Master Order match can do the trick. Sixty matches in, R.O.B. emerges. Luckily, this character can be acquired by beating Crazy Hand as well as 10 matches in the Crazy Orders mode. Mr. Game and Watch will be unlocked by the time players complete 80 bouts, and when they finish 20 more, they will get themselves Duck Hunt. But as a shortcut and a time-saving tip, players can go for five Classic Mode matches in any difficulty to get the former, and the latter will be available after one KO in Cruel Smash is pulled off by the player.

Players can also unlock new stages in the Event Mode. The Kongo Jungle 64 opens after "The Original Heavy Weights." Players have to overcome "Playing Tricks" to get Smashville, and "Lighting Strikes" unlocks the Pokemon Stadium 2. There is also a level inspired by Pac-man called PAC-LAND, where players have to play all the maps in the Smash Tour. Lastly, there's Flat Zone X, which unlocks when players, with the use of Mr. Game and Watch, break 100 blocks in a single game of Trophy Rush.

Conquering "Super Smash Bros." Wii sounds like a lot of fun and it is, hence its horde of fans and players. Furthermore, loyal patrons of the all-time favorite Nintendo title can look forward to Mewtwo, who will become a downloadable content by spring next year.
