'Super Smash Bros 4' DLC rumors: Three characters to be added to the roster?

When the most recent update rolled out to Nintendo's brawler title "Super Smash Bros. 4," fans were ecstatic. Aside from the improvements and changes to gameplay and design, there was also an added bonus – the update unlocked three additional character slots, all of which remain empty as of now.

This fueled speculations that the next update for the fighting title will introduce at least three-character DLC for players to choose from. However, as for who among the many fighters and characters in the gaming world will make it to the roster of "Super Smash Bros. 4," there has been no confirmation yet. Meanwhile, rumors and speculations continue to flourish, with fans and industry observers suggesting their own add-ons.

According to recent reports, one of the most sought-after fighters, and most likely to be added next, is the Shovel Knight. Indeed, the side-scroller main protagonist already has his own amiibo figurine, and some observers even indicated that the figure has been listed as "Super Smash"-compatible. However, "Shovel Knight" creator Yacht Games quickly dismissed the idea, saying that the Shovel Knight will not be included in the "Super Smash Bros. 4" roster anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Master Herald added that aside from the Shovel Knight, other speculated characters that could be added to the "Super Smash Bros. 4" fighter lineup are Isaac and Wolf. However, as per Yibada, a new lineup of characters could be lifted from another recent Nintendo bestseller, the ink-warfare title "Splatoon." Inklings, or characters from the game, could be the next characters to make it to the "Super Smash Bros. 4" roster.

However, as Nintendo still has to comment on any information about any DLC updates, the details that are currently available online remain hearsay and rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt.
