The macro mechanics currently present in "StarCraft II" may soon be removed from the game completely.
For those who may not be very familiar with the macro mechanics in the game, these are the race-specific abilities that players need to figure out and use properly to win matches in "StarCraft II."
When using Protoss, players can enhance the speed of their own structures so that they will be able to research abilities faster or even introduce fighters to the map more quickly. For Zerg, players can use their queens so that they will get more larva from their hatcheries. Lastly, the Terran can order around MULEs to help them gather minerals much faster than the others, according to Kotaku.
According to Blizzard's David Kim, the team behind "StarCraft II" is considering the complete removal of the aforementioned macro mechanics in the game mainly because they want to make the game more accessible and easier to play.
Kim said that "StarCraft II" has become increasingly more difficult to play, and one of the ways they believe that they can make it less of a challenge to players is by removing the macro mechanics. Kim also said that given the difficulty of trying to see how these macro mechanics are working in-game, even in tournaments, more reasons they have to cut them from the game.
According to Latinos Post, Blizzard is considering two courses of action when it comes to the macro mechanics.
They will either choose to nerf them in the game, so as to make them not quite as efficient and not quite as impactful, or they will take them out of the game completely, in order to allow players to focus on other parts of the game more.
Kim said that they have yet to decide which of the two courses of action they will ultimately take. The changes to the macro mechanics are expected to arrive along with the next beta patch for "StarCraft II."
