Blizzard has announced that as part of pre-order perks for those who will purchase the "Legacy of the Void" expansion for "Starcraft II" ahead of the rollout date, players will also have early access to a new character appearing in another Blizzard title, "Heroes of the Storm."

In an announcement on the official Blizzard blog, those who pre-ordered digital copies of the third and final installment on the "Starcraft II" trilogy will be able to unlock Artanis, Hierarch of the Protoss, for "Heroes of the Storm." In addition, Artanis will be made available for "Legacy of the Void" pre-orders starting Oct. 20, a full week before Artanis' scheduled appearance in "Heroes of the Storm." Artanis is scheduled to roll out to the multiplayer online battle arena title, joining the Nexus fray on Oct. 27.

Meanwhile, the pre-order bonus was also extended for players who pre-ordered physical versions of "Legacy of the Void." According to Blizzard, those who have opted for pre-ordering the discs for the upcoming "Starcraft II" installment will need to contact Customer Service with proof of purchase in order to unlock Artanis. The promo for physical pre-orders will start on Oct. 20 and will end on Nov. 13.

Aside from unlocking Artanis for "Heroes of the Storm," Blizzard also announced that Patch 3.0 is now live for "Heart of the Swarm," the second expansion for "Starcraft II."

Aside from the gameplay changes and bug fixes introduced by the update, the new patch also unlocks the prologue missions for "Legacy of the Void." Dubbed the "Whispers of Oblivion," the pack consists of three missions that would explain the events after the "Heart of the Swarm" campaign, leading to the story of the final chapter, "Legacy of the Void."

The third chapter for the "Starcraft II" trilogy will roll out on Nov. 10 for PC and Mac.
