'Star Wars: Battlefront' DLC, novel to tie into 'Star Wars Episode 7'

Star Wars: Battlefront EA Games/DICE

The 2015 Star Wars Celebration has given a lot of new information and teasers regarding the future of the franchise, with a new trailer for "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" and an exclusive video looking into the gameplay of "Star Wars: Battlefront." It has also been reported by Gamerant that the game will have a DLC pack and a tie-in novel that are connected directly to the upcoming film.

The DLC pack hasn't been officially titled yet but according to the panel present during the Star Wars Celebration, it will focus on the Battle of Jakku. Jakku, as stated by "The Force Awakens" director J. J. Abrams, is the desert planet shown in the two movie trailers and not Tatooine. It was further stated that the Battle of Jakku occured after "Return of the Jedi" and was between the New Republic and the remnants of the Galactic Empire. The new DLC will bring players directly to that battle.

Another "Star Wars" release is the tie-in novel under Del Rey Books titled "Star Wars Battlefront: Twilight Company." The news broke out when Twitter user Le Jedi Lorrain posted an image of the book's cover. Del Rey Books also posted the image via Instagram.

It is written by Alexander Freed, who previously wrote for the "Star Wars: The Old Republic" comic books under Marvel and was a writer for "Mass Effect" developer Bioware. "Twilight Company" will focus on an ongoing struggle between an elite band of Storm Troopers working under Darth Vader and soldiers from the Rebellion. Events in the book occur after the destruction of the first Death Star in "A New Hope."

"Star Wars Battlefront: Twilight Company" is scheduled for elease on Nov. 3 while "Star Wars: Battlefront" will launch on next-gen consoles and PC on Nov. 17 in the U.S. and Nov. 20 in the U.K.
