The Xperia M4 Aqua, Sony's forthcoming waterproof smartphone offering, was the center of leaks in the past few days. A bunch of photos showing the company's staple OmniBalance design on a white variant of the handset made the rounds recently.
The device, which adapts its looks from the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua, is touted to come out alongside the Sony Xperia Z4 tablet during the Mobile World Congress, happening from March 2 to 5.
The handset is said to come with a 5.2-inch HD resolution display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. Powered up by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, it has Android 5.0 Lollipop ready. It is also allegedly equipped with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage, and is rumored to sport a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera as well as a hefty 5-megapixel front-facing shooter that are both capable of capturing videos at 1080p.
No information on its IP rating was acquired, although there should be major improvements from (or at least the device will keep up with) the Xperia M2 Aqua, which was set at IP68, capable of coming out safe and sound from 1.5 meters of water after going for a half an hour dip. Even with that kept under wraps, Sony tells the world to "get ready to make a splash" as "all will be revealed" on March 2.
The covers will be taken off the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua today as well as off the Sony Xperia Z4 tablet, which was also leaked mere days before the official unveiling. The latter is expected to turn up with a 10.1-inch screen that renders a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. It owes its power to the 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor under its hood as well as its stocky 4 GB RAM and 32 GB memory.
