A new year means new episodes for a lot of popular TV series, most of which went on hiatus for the holidays. Some returning shows this year though will come fresh with a new season, much like Netflix's "Sense8." But what can fans expect in the upcoming season of the science fiction? A whole lot, like a new big bad and new locations, too.
"Sense8" season 2 is expected to drop this summer 2016, presumably in June because that's also when Netflix released all 12 episodes of the first season. While full-blown filming for a new season has not yet started, some people from the show revealed that they have done some initial shoots already.
Halfway through December, actor Aml Ameen, who plays matatu driver Capheus, tweeted, "We begin Season 2 in 10 days :)," which got some fans speculating that it's a shoot for "Sense8." One fan though was not going to leave it to speculation and went to creator and showrunner J. Michael Straczynski to ask if the actor's tweet meant that the sci-fi series was about to start filming.
Straczynski replied on Twitter, "It's a separate shoot to grab footage during the holiday, not the start of full-on main unit shooting."
True enough, before December ended, more and more tweets about this special shoot surfaced. Tina Desai, who plays pharmacist and devout Hindu Kala Dandekar, went to Twitter after Christmas and declared, "Ok, bye Mumbai!!! Boarding the flight for Berlin- Sense8 S2 shoot!!! And what I'm sure will be a fab new yr's eve n new yrs!!!"
This had a lot of fans of the show excited as they retweeted her 239 times and liked 483 times. This also lead to responses that speculated on more Kalagang, fans' nickname for the Kala-Wolfgang Bogdanow (Max Riemelt) ship. After all, Wolfgang is based in Berlin.
SheKnows also speculate that Kala's remergence in season 2 is not all about her love story with Wolfgang and their romantic traingle with Rajan Rasal (Purab Kohli). The site says that the new season will finally see more of her powers emerging.
All "Sense8" season 2 episodes are expected on Netflix this June 2016.
