"Sea of Thieves" was originally supposed to be released sometime in 2017. However, the game was pushed back to 2018 instead. The announcement was made at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2017. Aside from the announcement itself, a trailer for the game was also released.

The latest trailer for the upcoming game was uploaded on Xbox's YouTube channel on Nov. 16. The latest trailer featured a variety of fun events for players to get tangled up in. The activities ranged from shooting people in the face to selling treasure to playing music by the bonfire. And those aren't the only activities available in "Sea of Thieves" the trailer was jam-packed with pirate-like shenanigans and crazy adventures. It featured people getting shot into the air out of canons, swordfights with skeletons, plenty of explosions, and of course a fun time with one's fellow pirate crew.

The video ended with the message "be more pirate" hinting at future things to come in-game. Not much else was revealed by the trailer, but it did give future players a glimpse of the game's art style and fighting mechanics. Some of the in game sceneries were also revealed in the trailer.

The game will be coming to both Xbox consoles and the PC, and according to the developers of the game, cross-play will be allowed. Players from Xbox consoles and PC will be able to go on quests with one another and enjoy the game together, making it easier for friends to assist or duke it out with each other.

An open world, multiplayer pirate roleplaying game. "Sea of Thieves" is a beat 'em up, loot it all, and battle it out on the ocean game that encourages teamwork, rowdy battles, and all around adventure brimming with explosions and good times. It's a nautical adventure for anyone who wishes they could sail the seven seas or live the life of a pirate.
