Mellie (Bellamy Young) will have to face the scorching questions of the media about her failed marriage in the upcoming episode of the ABC hit series "Scandal."

In "Get out of Jail, Free," TV Guide reports the former first lady will be put on the hot seat as the press hurls probing questions about the divorce and the illicit relationship between Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and Olivia (Kerry Washington). Last episode, Mellie could not believe what she heard from the judiciary committee. They told her she needed to resign from her post due to conflict of interests. Mellie was astounded that it would all boil down to this after exposing Fitz's secrets. Will she finally kiss her POTUS aspiration goodbye?

Meanwhile, an outrageous plan concocted by the newly minted Chief of Staff Cyrus (Jeff Perry) may end all the problems Liv and Fitz are facing. In episode 6, Cyrus will suggest that Liv should marry the President of the United States to end all the speculations about them. While this may seem the easiest way out, the pair knows that it will not be so easy. Fitz can well kiss his political career goodbye, while Liv may lose all her clients in Pope & Associates.

In the promo released by the network, Liv can be seen vetoing the idea, saying that "a shot gun wedding on the heels of a quickie divorce" will only complicate things. Her interview last episode where she was portrayed as a woman in love was a success. In front of the camera and the whole America, she admitted that she wished she never met Fitz as all the people around her were getting hurt because of their affair.

At first, Leo Bergen (Paul Adelstein) wanted the citizens to see her as a woman of the people. But one look at her chic wardrobe and the proposal went down the drain. The group then realized that she needed someone trustworthy to attest to her character. They chose her ex-boyfriend Edison (Norm Lewis), the Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate. Edison did not want to have anything to do with Liv and Fitz, but he agreed to do it if Liv promised to tell him inside information about the affair.

"Scandal" season 5 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
