"Scalebound" was initially meant to feature gigantic dinosaurs in place of dragons.
According to the game's director Hideki Kamiya, "Scalebound" was already one of the first titles that developer Platinum Games had planned, although one crucial element has changed over the years. Even though the version of "Scalebound" most players will get to see when it is released is mostly similar to what was originally intended, one major difference is that initial plans had dinosaurs in the game in the place of dragons.
Kamiya also shared that the initial vision for "Scalebound" involved the gigantic creatures taking on one another. Kamiya also revealed that "Scalebound" was effectively put on hold when Platinum Games decided to focus more on "Bayonetta." It was near this point in the process when the game's developer eventually decided that they would shift to dragons instead of dinosaurs.
According to Gamespot, even with the renewed vision for "Scalebound," the game still failed to get going when they could not find a willing publisher.
It was not until Platinum Games was able to pitch "Scalebound" to Microsoft that the project got rolling once again.
Other features of "Scalebound" have been revealed recently.
According to Bidness ETC, the game will be taking place in third person mode, thus allowing players to enjoy more of the sights of the world found inside "Scalebound."
One of the other more unusual features included in the game is its support for co-op mode. In the game, players will be allowed to team up with three other friends to take on some of the more challenging bosses. Role-playing games are typically not the genres that like to play host to co-op play, but "Scalebound" is looking to change that up.
At this point in time, no official release date has been given for "Scalebound," although it is expected to come out in 2016.
