Samsung is rumored to launch its next flagship phone, the Galaxy S5, at the 2014 Consumer Electronic Show in January or the Mobile World Congress in February.
The Galaxy S4 was released in April this year, a few months earlier than the launch of the previous S3. If Samsung follows the same pattern, the S5 will most likely launch in the first quarter of the new year.
The annual CES will be held Jan. 7-10 in Las Vegas and is a stage for new phones, TVs, and other electronic gadgets to be revealed.
The Mobile World Congress will be held in Barcelona between February 24-27.
The latest Galaxy smartphone is expected to ramp up the security with a new feature – an iris eye scanning sensor – which will be used to unlock the phone. As usual, Samsung has not released any official information on the specs or features of its upcoming smartphone, so there is no confirmation that this is true.
Other specs rumors point to an ultra high definition 2k (Quad HD) 5 inch display with a resolution of 1440x2560p. This means that it would be the first smartphone to have such a high resolution. Along with the crystal clear screen, it is also expected to come with a 64-bit processor, 3GB RAM and a whopping 4000mAh battery. The latest Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has a 3200 mAh that is big enough to power the large device for the whole day. A 4000mAH battery on a regular 5 inch phone would mean that the phone will last up to two days with a single charge.
Although the Galaxy line has proven to be popular, many consumers have expressed that the Korean company improve the aesthetic side of the phone by manufacturing a smartphone with an all-metal body, such as the HTC One or the iPhone.
Following the customer demands, there are rumors that Samsung may do just that and produce the Galaxy S5 line encased with an all-metal body.
