'Prey' DLC release date: DLC confirmed by creative director

"Prey" may not have been released yet, but Arkane Studios Creative Director Raphael Colantonio has already confirmed that the game will be getting a downloadable content (DLC).

In response to a question on whether the game will be extended via the release of a DLC, in an interview with AListDaily, he said, "Yes, absolutely. We don't have any plans to announce yet, but we are working on a variety of things — including updates — to keep the game going."

The creation of additional content is always good news for gamers. This is not saying, however, that "Prey" will have limited content. On the contrary, Colantonio said in the same interview that the game will have replay value, given that it offers multiple endings and has open-ended gameplay. Furthermore, powers and abilities cannot be unlocked in just one playthrough. He said, "Replaying is a way to see what happens if you make a different choice. There are also a few other mutually exclusive quests that have nothing to do with the ending."

In an interview with Twinfinite, "Prey" lead designer Ricardo Bare revealed that the ending splits off in two main branches. However, each branch also has different variations, following a player's in-game choices and interactions with the other survivors.

"Prey" is met with a lot of anticipation, largely due to its troubled past. According to Colantonio, it has been 10 years since a game titled "Prey" has been released, although there were two games that bore the same name that were not ultimately produced. He also clarified in the interview that "Prey" is not intended to be a horror game. Rather, he described it as a "mystery," wherein players will need to discover the answers to the questions raised at the start.

"Prey" is set at the Talos I space station. Players will take on the role of Morgan Yu, a scientist who finds himself trapped in a space station after it was overrun by aliens.

"Prey" will be released on May 5. It is playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
