Will the next installment in the hugely successful and highly popular "Pokemon" franchise be making an E3 appearance?

The yearly Electronics Entertainment Expo is a showcase of all the giants in the entertainment industry, particularly the gaming one. Big-name publishers, developers, and entertainment tech bigwigs all flock to the E3 event to announce upcoming titles, report to fans about current developments, and let players have a sneak peek at their anticipated and favorite games.

This year's E3 event will be held from June 16 to 18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in California.

In connection with this, game giant Nintendo has already announced it will be making an E3 appearance and announcements about upcoming titles should be expected. Because of this statement, fans of numerous Nintendo titles, particularly that of the "Pokémon" franchise, began speculating on what Nintendo has in mind.

A particular theory that "Pokémon" trainers have been keeping an eye on is the fabled "Pokémon Z." Rumors about an upcoming announcement are gaining steam. Robert Kuang of KPopStarz reports one fan saying that, "I want a sequel but a single version, not 'X2/Y2. I want a more in-depth story about the war, AZ and an explanation of Mega Evolution."

In addition, if the dates on previous "Pokémon" titles show a trend, then the expected upcoming sequel to "Pokémon X and Y" will come out this year.

Checking the dates, "Pokémon" sequels are released every two years. The first "Pokémon Red and Blue" release was in February 1996, while the sequel, "Pokémon Yellow," was launched in September 1998. More recently, "Pokémon X and Y" was released in October 2013. It should then be expected that the next "Pokémon" title will be released in the latter part of the year, and the announcement from either Nintendo or "Pokémon" developer Game Freak will be made at the E3 event in June.
