'Pokémon GO' update, news: Ditto finally joins game

After waiting for months for it to arrive, Ditto is finally live on "Pokémon GO." Trainers knew this was going to happen eventually after the people behind The Silph Road found out its signature move, Transform, had been activated.

Well, it didn't take long for trainers to report all the Ditto sightings out there. Ditto has the ability to shape-shift into any Pokémon, so players who caught it initially thought it was something else. This means one of those pesky Rattatas and Pidgeys that are all over the place may turn out to be a Ditto, so better catch them just to be sure because it looks like the Pokémon will only reveal itself when it is caught.

In gym battles, Ditto can transform itself into a copy of the first Pokémon it sees and it will remain like that for the duration of the fight. But when a Ditto fights another Ditto, players will just have to tap away until the opponent is defeated. Now that all the non-legendary Generation 1 Pokémon are out, will Niantic roll out the legendary ones in the near future?

Meanwhile, reports say Niantic is bringing the Nearby tracking system to all states west of the Mississippi River, except for Hawaii and Alaska. Trainers in Australia and certain parts of Canada will also get the chance to test this feature.

Niantic has also announced that they are changing the Combat Power of several Pokémon.

"We have made adjustments to the CP of various Pokémon. Some Pokémon, such as Alakazam, Rhydon, and Gengar will have their CP increased. Others will have their CP lowered. These changes will allow a more balanced and competitive battling and training experience in Gyms. We will continue to adjust the CP going forward to improve the game balance when necessary," the developers explained in a blog post.
