"Pokemon Go" has become one of the most popular mobile games of all time, and while the game has already launched in several territories, including Japan and the United States, the Pokemon Go Plus accessory will reportedly not yet be released until July 31 and even then, it is only compatible for iOS devices.
According to Mobile N Apps, the accessory will release for the North American market by July 31 and will cost $34.99. It is only going to be compatible with devices running iOS 8 or higher and android compatbility is still being worked on so the latter will not be available on launch.
In regards to a European release, the accessory will not be available until August. No definitive release date has yet been released but the device will reportedly cost £34.99 in the United Kingdom.
The Pokemon Go Plus is a wristwatch-like accessory although the wristbands can be removed so that the device itself can be pinned to a shirt or strap. The design is reminiscent of both the Google Maps pin and the traditional PokeBall.
According to the official Pokemon Go website, the Pokemon Go Plus is a simple device that allows players to catch Pokemon and retrieve items from a PokeStop with a single press of a button. When a player is near a Pokemon or PokeStop, the device will light up and vibrate. The player then needs to press the button to reap the rewards.
However, players can only use the Pokemon Go Plus to catch Pokemon they've already caught before so it cannot be used to capture new Pokemon. This is still very useful as catching duplicates is the only means of amassing enough Stardust and Pokemon Candy to make Pokemon stronger or to evolve.
"Pokemon Go" is a free-to-play video game with microtransactions available. The game is available in most countries although further territories have yet to see its release and the game is still launching several new features such as Pokemon trading.
