Gamers now have a new date on the calendar to mark down, as Sony has just announced that their annual Tokyo Game Show press conference will be held on Sept. 15.

For fans who will be unable to attend, they will still be given the opportunity to catch up on the latest news via a livestream feed that will be made available via the Japanese PlayStation Blog.

The press conference will be taking place before the big event itself as the Tokyo Game Show will begin two days later on Sept. 17 and wrap on Sept. 20, according to Gamespot.

As for what players can expect in terms of games that will be revealed or perhaps simply detailed at the event, one title that many PlayStation fans are hoping for is the sequel to "Gravity Rush." Details have been scant regarding the game, and even though there is no confirmation yet that the "Gravity Rush" sequel will be announced at the Tokyo Game Show, many are looking at it as an ideal forum for the reveal.

Aside from the "Gravity Rush" sequel, Sony is also expected to follow up on some of the titles they announced earlier this year during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event, according to Eurogamer. One of the games that could fall into this category is "The Last Guardian;" although with Sony opting to stay silent, nothing is set in stone.

Regardless of what Sony does indeed announce for their PlayStation 4 at the Tokyo Game Show, what is likely is that they will be taking full advantage of the stage that is available only to them.

This time around, Microsoft and their Xbox console will not be present at the event.

No official reason has been given for why Microsoft has opted to skip this year's Tokyo Game Show, especially with the company using the same event last year to make several announcements.
