PlayStation 4 Pro release date news, updates: new details on console's power consumption modes

Tech giant Sony has recently released the PlayStation 4 Pro, and gamers who initially owned the earlier version of the PlayStation 4 family are still wondering whether they should upgrade their consoles or not.

The PlayStation 4 Pro is the highly-awaited gaming console that Sony has been teasing fans with for the past few months. The PlayStation 4 Pro is Sony's take on a premium quality console that aims to provide its users with superb looking displays. And since the PlayStation 4 Pro is made to bring the highest-quality of displays, it also comes with a pretty hefty price tag of $400 USD.

However, despite the price, the PlayStation 4 Pro proves to be a worthy console because of its stunning 4K resolution support. The console can also provide gamers with the option to play games at a higher resolution.

Unfortunately, even if some Sony fans opt to get themselves a new PlayStation 4 Pro, they might not be able to fully enjoy the console's 4K support if they don't have a 4K resolution television set.

Furthermore, the PlayStation 4 Pro is deemed to have few improvements when it comes to the design language as opposed to the earlier released CUH-2000 PlayStation 4 Slim. What's more is that the boot up and navigating system of the PlayStation 4 Pro is also similar to that of the PlayStation 4 Slim.

On another note, the stunning display features of the PlayStation 4 Pro alone might get a lot of interested buyers since it really does offer a significantly noticeable visual improvement over the previous versions of the PlayStation 4 Pro.

And for users who are worried about the power consumption of the PlayStation 4 Pro, the new console offers two modes that would somehow allow users to save energy when they choose not to use the PlayStation 4 Pro's full power.

There is the base PlayStation 4 Pro mode which uses its eight jaguar cores clocked at 1.6GHz, its 18 Radeon GCN compute unit GPU at 800MHz, and its 8 GB GDDR5 RAM at 176GB/s. Meanwhile, the boost PlayStation 4 Pro mode uses its eight jaguar cores clocked at 2.1GHz, its 36 GCN GPUs at 911MHz, and its 8 GB GDDR5 RAM at 218GB/s.
