Pittsburgh Steelers news 2016: Veteran James Harrison might add one more season in storied career

Age is just a number for linebacker James Harrison who may be back in the 2016 season and play the last year of his current contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Harrison, after coming out of retirement in 2014, inked a two-year extension deal with the Steelers in March 2015.

"He's under contract for one more year, we plan to honor that," Harrison's agent Bill Parise said, according to ESPN.

Despite Harrison's agent sounding sure that he is coming back next season, the veteran already said after the 2015 season that he will be thinking about continuing his career.

However, ESPN also reported that the 37-year-old linebacker had a successful postseason meeting with head coach Mike Tomlin which signals for a return.

Harrison almost played a full year as a second string linebacker during the previous season seeing action in 15 games, tallying 40 tackles and five sacks.

As the Steelers reached the playoffs, Harrison played in both their Wild Card Playoffs matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals and the Divisional Playoffs versus reigning Super Bowl champions the Denver Broncos.

In the postseason, Harris had a total of 11 tackles and two sacks versus the Bengals and Broncos.

The numbers he recorded in the 2015 season shows that Harris can still play in the NFL, but the physical toll of one season might be too much for someone who will turn 38 years old this May.

If there is a chance that Harris decides to retire for the last time before the 2016 season, the Steelers still have Jarvis Jones who earned the starting job last season and performed well.

The Steelers had a great 2015 season even if there were injuries that came along the way.

Pittsburgh finished second in the American Football Conference (AFC) North and made it to the playoffs for the second consecutive year.
