Phoenix Suns injury news, rumors 2015: Eric Bledsoe sidelined after suffering meniscus tear

The Phoenix Suns were just dealt a major setback as one of their best players in point guard Eric Bledsoe suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee in their 111–104 defeat to the Philadelphia 76ers last Saturday.

Bledsoe's injury was reported by The Arizona Republic, which also added that he will undergo surgery on Tuesday, with the Suns not giving a timetable for his return.

According to The Arizona Republic, Bledsoe had the same injury to his right knee in 2011 and in 2014 had a procedure to remove a damaged meniscus which kept him out of action for more than two months.

Phoenix will be missing 20.4 points, four rebounds, 6.1 assists, and two steals per game as these are Bledsoe's averages per contest this season.

The Suns' schedule makes Bledsoe's absence a bigger problem as they are set to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers at home today, Monday, and the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road come Wednesday and Thursday.

In the report by The Arizona Republic, Phoenix head coach Jeff Hornacek said about the situation at the point guard position, "We felt that all along, if something happened to one or the other, if they were missing a game or something, the other guy could be the lone point guard."

Now, the court facilitating job is expected to be taken by Brandon Knight, who is playing well this 2015–16 regular season.

In 32 regular season games played which include 31 starts, the 24-year-old is averaging a career-best in scoring with 19.8 points per contest.

Along with that, Knight is also averaging four rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.5 steals this season.

The Suns are currently 12th in the Western Conference standings with a 12–20 record, and it seems like they will be missing the playoffs for another season.

It has been a five-season drought for Phoenix, the last time the team made it to the playoffs was in the 2009–10 season when they reached the conference finals but failed to eventual champions, the Los Angeles Lakers.
