Once again, veteran forward Gerald Wallace is on the move as the Philadelphia 76ers, who had acquired him via trade deal, decided to waive him last Saturday.

Wallace played his second year for the Boston Celtics last season but was no longer as efficient as he was before.

During the offseason, Wallace was one of the players the Celtics sent to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for former All-Star center David Lee last July.

Days after, the defending champions traded Wallace to the Philadelphia 76ers together with cash and draft considerations for forward Jason Thompson.

Now, the 76ers, who are filled with young talent, decided to part ways with Wallace by waiving him.

ESPN reported that according to a source, all teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA) were notified of Wallace's release at 5 p.m. EST last Saturday.

If the 33-year-old forward can clear waivers, he will be an unrestricted free agent this Tuesday, ESPN added.

Wallace was the 25th overall pick by the Sacramento Kings in the 2001 NBA Draft; he played his first three seasons with the team.

The former Alabama Crimson Tide standout emerged in his stint with the then Charlotte Bobcats, during which he was selected in his only All-Star appearance in 2010.

Wallace then spent time with the Portland Trail Blazers and with the Nets franchise when it was still in New Jersey and even when it transferred to Brooklyn.

In 2013, he was traded to the Celtics and was expected to be one of the veterans to lead a young squad but was unable to do so with his numbers declining in each of the past two seasons.

Wallace's last season with the Celtics was his worst in all of his years in the NBA as he had career-lows in games played (32), games started (0), points per game (1.1), and assists per game (0.3).

As he becomes a free agent with his performance dwindling, Wallace will likely be acquired by a team that wants in their roster a player whom they can use as a trade piece for future deals.
