'Persona 5' US release date may be revealed in E3 announcement

 Atlus

It was previously reported that "Persona 5" will launch for the PS3 and PS4 in Japan this September, but no launch date has yet been set for the Western port. However, according to a report from IGN, Atlus has confirmed that "Persona 5" will be featured at this year's E3 event, and it is likely that a Western launch date will be announced.

According to the report, Atlus will likely launch a brand new trailer that will focus on some of the other characters, gameplay elements and the English dub for the game. A final release date will also likely be showcased but as previously reported, the English port is only releasing for the PS4 and not the PS3.

Given that the game is launching in September in Japan, fans speculate that the English port may release several months after, hinting at a possible holiday release or early 2017 launch date if localization has not already begun. This would push "Persona 5" to a Spring 2017 release window.

The game is also likely going to be altered in order to take advantage of the upcoming "Playstation 4 Neo." While Sony has not yet confirmed that the upgraded PS4 is real, it is expected that any game coming out by the end of the year onwards must have the ability to take advantage of the higher processing power.

The English voice cast has not yet been revealed and all of the trailers thus far have been from the original Japanese version of the game. The report points out that the full list of English voice actors will most likely be revealed along with the US and European release date.

"Persona 5" will follow the successful format introduced in past games where the player takes control of a group of students capable of utilizing unique "personas" as they shift between school duties during the day and the paranormal world at night. This time around, however, the characters are being chased by the authorities instead of people investigating a crime.
