Panasonic Eco Solutions, partnering with PowerOasis, will unveil its "Green Tower" solution at this year's Mobile World Congress.

The 2015 MWC, happening from March 2 to 5 in Barcelona, Spain, is a showcase of upcoming technologies. In recent years, much of the hype about the event was focused on product launches, particularly the release of new mobile devices.

However, Panasonic Eco Solutions aims to shift the limelight into green technology. The company, a division of Panasonic Corporation of North America, is lined up to present its "Green Tower" solution to the world at large by participating at the MWC. Partnering with PowerOasis, a world leader in energy efficiency solutions and power management, Panasonic Eco Solutions will introduce an all-inclusive energy solution targeted at cellular towers and Wi-Fi hotspots.

As a stated by Jamie Evans of Panasonic's U.S. Eco Solutions, "Panasonic is driving a paradigm shift across the industry through its comprehensive energy solution and its Energy-as-a-Service model, offering telecom carriers the ability to finally address energy and operating costs with an innovative solution."

The "Green Tower" solution makes use of a Lithium Ion-based power hybrid, coupled with the solar energy expertise and energy management platform from PowerOasis, to come up with cellular towers capable of working with the same amount of capacity load but with the added advantages of efficient distribution of energy, thereby reducing operating costs. It is also versatile, as operators can set up the towers even on unreliable grids as the main or support power solution.

Adds John O'Donohue, CEO of PowerOasis, "This turn-key solution highlights the significant benefits mobile operators can achieve by incorporating an integrated energy management platform and Lithium Ion battery technology into their network energy strategy."

Representatives from both companies will demonstrate the "Green Tower" solution in the Green Pavilion booth at the MWC, located at Hall 7.
