OnePlus 2 release date delay news: Fans will have to wait a bit longer

Chinese phone maker OnePlus have started accepting orders for the new OnePlus 2 since Tuesday, but bad news for those in the North American territories, United States and Canada, because they won't be getting their hands on the precious device until late August or early September.

According to a blog post last Monday, OnePlus announced that there have been some issues with the production schedules and the shipment to North America will be done two to three weeks after shipment to Europe begins.

This is sad news of course for those who have anticipated for the release of their device, but still those who plan to use their invite codes to purchase OnePlus may still do so.

The company didn't clearly mention why there was a delay, but it stated the problem on production schedules and issued an apology for the inconvenience the delay has caused.

It's expected that some fans will be disappointed but the company chose to be transparent by announcing such delay.

The fans were also thankful that OnePlus gave an update even though it involved sad news.

Those who really want to go for a OnePlus 2 but don't have an invite can still get the device from third-party sellers. However, it is expected that the device will be sold at a much higher price compared to those that are offered by the company itself.

OnePlus 2 was officially introduced back in July 28 with a virtual reality presentation. The device comes with a 5.5-inch screen that boasts a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels.

It runs on a v2.1 Snapdragon 810 chipset and has a 3 GB or 4 GB RAM, depending on the variant.

The default color for the device is sandstone black, but the back panel color can be changed to Kevlar, bamboo, rosewood or black apricot colors.

The striking feature of OnePlus 2 is its fingerprint sensor that reportedly unlocks the device in just 0.5 seconds, which is considered faster than Apple's Touch ID.
