Oklahoma City Thunder NBA 2015 roster news: Kevin Durant not resting despite tough schedule

Oklahoma City Thunder star forward and 2014 Most Valuable Player (MVP) Kevin Durant will be playing all the games in a schedule that features four outings in five nights.

Currently, Oklahoma City just finished the second game in that schedule which was a 110–105 defeat to the Houston Rockets last Monday.

The Thunder will be resting this Tuesday but will resume action on Wednesday taking on the Toronto Raptors at home before hitting the road on Friday to play against the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.

Despite the loaded schedule they are facing now, Thunder head coach Billy Donovan is not looking to rest Durant.

"There's no 'OK, after tonight we're gonna rest him.' Or a 'Hey, listen, we're gonna get through this midweek and then rest him on the back end.' Those guys are gonna play, and they want to play. They are competitors," Donovan stated in a report by NewsOK.

Durant missed all but 27 regular season games last season due to a Jones fracture that needed multiple surgeries to fully repair.

The 27-year-old has been playing great this season and alongside point guard Russell Westbrook led Oklahoma City to a 3–0 start before the setback suffered against Houston.

In their loss to the Rockets, Durant played 35 minutes and had 29 points, four rebounds, and two blocks.

The six-time National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star also aired his frustration when being asked about his playing time.

"I'm really tired of y'all talking to me like I'm a 19-year vet. I was out a year. Not even a whole year. I'm alright. I can play those minutes," Durant told reporters, according to NewsOK

The Thunder are gunning for the playoffs after missing it last season, with the loss of Durant being a big factor for the absence.

Oklahoma City's last appearance in the postseason saw the team reach the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs in the 2013–14 season.
