'No Man's Sky' release date set for Q3; Game features detailed

 Hello Games website

For those who are anticipating the much-hyped space exploration title "No Man's Sky," gamers might be able to tick it on their wish list this year.

A scoop by one Reddit user provided to Design & Trend placed the elusive game's release date in the latter part of this year. The scan of Australia's Play Magazine puts the title's release in the third quarter, which is sometime between July and September.

In terms of gameplay, players will be able to purchase ships based on their features and use – they can be bought for combat, exploration, or trading. Explorers will be able to gather and harvest resources to aid in development, engage in dogfights either for attack or defense, and send out scouts to explore uncharted territories.

One of the key features of the game is that the world seems limitless. According to developer Hello Games, the title uses algorithms and robots in order to check and explore each world in the game's galaxy. To put the game's universe in perspective, the developers list that every person on Earth should discover 73 planets every minute in order to complete the 2.5 billion planets allotted per player.

Quoting the official website, the game has the following features:

  • A TRULY OPEN UNIVERSE If you can see it, you can go there. You can fly seamlessly from the surface of a planet to another, and every star in the sky is a sun that you can visit.
  • EXPLORATION IS SEEING THINGS THAT NO-ONE ELSE HAS EVER SEEN BEFORE Every creature, geological formation, plant and spaceship is unique.
  • SURVIVE ON A DANGEROUS FRONTIER You are alone and vulnerable, and will face threat everywhere, from deep space to thick forests, barren deserts to dark oceans.
  • BUILD FOR AN EPIC JOURNEY Collect precious materials and trade them for better spacecraft and upgrades for your suit and equipment and prepare for your journey to the centre of the galaxy.
  • A SHARED UNIVERSE Choose to share with other players your discoveries on a map of the galaxy. Strike out for unexplored frontiers or build your strengths in known space.
  • 65DAYSOFSTATIC SOUNDTRACK Our favourite band, 65daysofstatic, is producing a soundtrack album especially for No Man's Sky, which will be featured in the game as a procedurally generated soundscape.

Meanwhile, Hello Games remains mum on details confirming the timed release rumors. Checking their website, the release dates and platforms for the upcoming title remains to be "TBA."
