A showdown of two teams trying to better their playoff chances will be featured for National Football League's (NFL) Monday Night Football as the Miami Dolphins host the New York Giants at the Sun Life Stadium.
The Dolphins and Giants are on the bottom of their respective divisions and Monday's game is a must-win for both squads as they look to improve their records.
Miami holds a 5–7 record to sit on the last spot in the American Football Conference (AFC) East, while the Giants are at 5–7 to rank third in the National Football Conference (NFC) East.
Despite their records and standings, the Dolphins will be the ones heading to the game bringing a win as they defeated the Baltimore Ravens 15–13 in their last game which was on Dec. 6.
It was not a pretty win, but the Dolphins will take it as they have faced a number of setbacks this 2015 regular season.
Leading the way in the win over Baltimore were quarterback Ryan Tannehill and defensive end Derrick Shelby.
Tannehill threw his only touchdown pass in the second quarter, connecting with wide receiver DeVante Parker for a 38-yard score.
Following the touchdown, Shelby returned an interception for a 22-yard touchdown which put them up 15–0.
The Ravens rallied and scored the last 13 points of the game, but it was not enough to steal the win from Miami.
Meanwhile, the Giants will be going to Monday's game aiming to end a three-game losing streak.
The Giants were faring well early in the season but were unable to find answer to their recent struggles.
Following a Week 9 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last November, New York did not win again.
The Giants have fallen to the defending champions New England Patriots (Week 10), Washington Redskins (Week 12), and the New York Jets (Week 13).
New York's defeat to the Jets was a tough one since it took an overtime period for the game to be decided.
