Nexus 5 2015 release date in October? LG's phone gets rumor mills going

The Nexus 5, which will reportedly share its name with this year's latest Google phone. Google/Nexus

Google follows a trend of releasing a new phone each year. This time, it's the Google/ LG Nexus 5 that's being put on the spotlight.

The Google phone of 2015, according to PC Advisor UK, is just right around the corner. However, it's not exactly sure if what is dubbed as the Nexus 5 2015 is really a Nexus 5 — the name has aready been used, along with Nexus 4, 6, and 7. Nevertheless, there are plenty of speculations on what the upcoming device will have to offer.

The PC Advisor article reports that both LG and Huawei are each doing a version of the device, but somehow, it appears that the LG-Nexus will have 5.2-inch HD P-OLED screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 620, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM with memory expandable up to 64 GB, front-facing speakers, and a 13- and 4-megapixel camera combo. Meanwhile, the Huawei-made Nexus is said to have a 5.7-inch WQHD AMOLED screen, a metal unibody chassis, a 21-megapixel rear camera, and wireless charging support.

A report from Android Pit provides more details about Google's purported Nexus phone. According to the article, it will have a fingerprint scanner at the back, just below the camera sensor. It will also have a USB Type-C port as well as a matte rear. The real beauty of the phone, according to the report, could lie in its price-to-performance ratio.

The LG Nexus 5 is touted to have a release date in October. Perhaps Google is trying to avoid the September battleground of releases from giants like Apple and Samsung; it might also be because they're fine-tuning the design and the software of the phone. Nevertheless, the company likely has got something up its sleeves. It might be that they're aiming to release the new Android Pay, Android M, and Nexus simultaneously, which would be a big thing.

However, all of these are just leaks and speculations, and are meant to be taken with collective pinches of salt.
