The New York Mets are ready for the Major League Baseball (MLB) 2015 World Series and pitcher Matt Harvey is given the huge task of starting in their series opener against the Kansas City Royals this Tuesday.

New York has already announced its starting pitchers for each game while the Royals have yet to divulge any information about their starters and roster heading to the grandest stage in MLB.

In a report by ESPN, Mets manager Terry Collins said Harvey is ready to be pitching in Game 1 of the World Series.

Harvey, who is playing in his third season with the Mets, played and started in 29 regular season games this season.

The 26-year-old has a 13–8 record, with a 2.71 earned run average (ERA), 108 strikeouts, and 1.02 walks and hits per innings pitched (WHIP).

Harvey earned the starting nod for Game 1 after an impressive showing in their National League Championship Series (NLCS) opener against the Chicago Cubs, which ended in a sweep by the Mets.

Along with Harvey, Jacob deGrom (Game 2),  Noah Syndergaard (Game 3), and Steven Matz (Game 4) have also been given starting assignments.

If the World Series makes it past four games, the rotation will remain the same, with Syndergaard starting for the Mets if ever there will be a win-it-all Game 7.

Syndergaard, who is playing in his first year with the Mets and in the MLB this season, played and started in 24 regular season games.

The 23-year-old pitcher has a 9-7 record, with a 3.24 ERA, 166 strikeouts, and 1.05 WHIP.

Game 1 of the World Series will take place this Tuesday, Oct. 27, with the Royals hosting the Mets at Kauffman Stadium.

The next game (Game 2) will still be at Kauffman Stadium before it shifts to Citi Field for the next three games (Games 3, 4, and 5). If the series sees Games 6 and 7, it will return to the home of the Royals at Kauffman Stadium.
