New York Knicks trade rumors 2016: Brandon Jennings to be acquired from Pistons?

The New York Knicks recently have been reported to be looking for backcourt help especially at the point guard position and one of the players that they may try to acquire via trade is the Detroit Pistons' Brandon Jennings.

In the past few years and last season before getting injured, Jennings proved that he can be an all-around kind of point guard and can also be an explosive scorer.

It seems like that is what the Knicks need to complete the tools for a playoff push this 2015–16 National Basketball Association (NBA) regular season.

As of now, New York has Jose Calderon, Langston Galloway, and Jerian Grant at the point guard position.

Calderon is an experienced playmaker and is providing veteran leadership, but despite being a great shooter is not really someone who can take it to the basket and score.

Galloway and Grant are young playmakers who are still trying to find their game in the NBA and have yet to make significant impact for the Knicks.

If Jennings joins the Knicks, he will provide that scoring threat because of his shooting and slashing abilities.

The 26-year-old can also work alongside Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony and provide a one-two scoring punch.

But there will be risks for the potential deal as Jennings is just coming off an injury that sidelined him for nearly a year and is just returning in action for the Pistons.

In a report by Frank Isola of the Daily News, he reported two issues that Knicks president Phil Jackson must consider if he wants to sign Jennings.

The first one is what/who the Knicks are willing to deal away to get Jennings and the second is the Memphis Grizzlies' Mike Conley who is set to be a free agent come July.

Conley is one of the best playmakers in the NBA and even though there is a chance he will again sign with Memphis, Isola mentioned that he may have seen how far the Grizzlies can go and would look to sign with a different team.
