The New York Giants are facing issues at the linebacker position and because of this, they added James Morris to their active roster as he was signed from the practice squad.

Morris came to the National Football League (NFL) from the University of Iowa and joined the New England Patriots as an undrafted rookie.

According to the report on the Giants' website, Morris was re-signed and waived before by the Pats and was even placed on injured-reserve last August before being released again early in September.

To create a roster space for the 23-year-old, the Giants decided to waive cornerback Brandon McGee.

The addition of Morris is to address the ankle injuries of linebackers J.T. Thomas and Jon Beason.

Both Thomas and Thomas did not play for New York when they took on the New Orleans Saints today, Sunday.

In the report on the team's website, Thomas was one of four players who was not with the Giants who travelled to New Orleans for their Week 8 game.

Along with Thomas and Beason are cornerback Prince Amukamara, wide receiver Victor Cruz, and defensive end Owa Odighizuwa, who are also dealing with their respective injuries.

Another player who did not join the team in their game against the Saints is defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul who returned to practice this week for the first time since the fireworks accident he had last July 4, which led to the amputation of his right index finger.

In his first time speaking to the media since the unfortunate incident, Pierre-Paul said he is still the same player that he was before it happened.

"I am still the same Jason Pierre-Paul. Skill set hasn't changed. Probably got even better," the 26-year-old defensive end said.

The Giants failed to shoot for their fifth win when they lost 49–52 to the Saints in today's game. Saints have been having an up and down season but have been on a three-game winning streak.
