New Orleans Pelicans rumors 2015: Anthony Davis upset with the way they are playing after last loss

It looks like New Orleans Pelicans budding star forward Anthony Davis is tired of their current situation this season and following Monday's defeat to the Orlando Magic criticized the way they are playing.

The Pelicans are currently second to the last in the Western Conference standings with a 10–21 record.

"We just don't play hard all the time," Davis said, according to The Times-Picayune

"That starts with our first unit coming out and setting the pace and setting the tone for the rest of the game and setting the tone for the guys that sub in especially after halftime. That's kind of been our thing this year. It starts with the first unit and it starts with me," the 22-year-old forward added.

Despite Davis' thoughts about their starting unit and his performance, he is still playing great averaging 23.5 points, 10.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 2.7 blocks, and 1.3 steals in 36.1 minutes of action per outing.

But in the game versus Orlando, Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry decided to sit down Davis along with the starters to begin the second half as the reserves grinded it out in the court.

But Gentry's strategy was not successful and the Pelicans absorbed another tough loss.

Davis voiced out his frustration about the game and stated, "We're coming out the third quarter and we're not playing hard. They are doing everything they want and we're turning the ball over. We were down four then we were down 10. It was just frustration with us not playing hard, including myself."

Last season, the Pelicans were surprise contenders and made it to the playoffs as the number eight seed in the Western Conference.

New Orleans' success last season was because of Davis, who was continually improving and was a Most Valuable Player (MVP) candidate, with his performance earning him a massive extension deal in the offseason.

But so far, nothing is going as planned for the Pelicans, with Davis being the lone bright spot for the team which entered the season with high expectations.

The Pelicans will continue their campaign this season hosting the Blake Griffin-less Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday.
