'Halo: The Master Chief Collection': new update adds game stability and punishes quitters

Halo: The Master Chief Collection 343 Industries

Gamers logging in to play "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" will be prompted to download the game's latest update. This new update patches up stability, re-works ranking, and adds several new features such as a form of punishment for quitters.

The update fixes an issue that used to display the wrong player ranking as well as an issue that causes a player to excessively rank down. It also improves ranking consistencies as well as penalties. Due to these changes, the ranking of "Halo 2: Anniversary" will be reset.

New to this update are the penalties to quitting and betrayal in matchmaking. Quitting a match in a ranked playlist is now counted as a loss. Since quitting is defined as exiting an ongoing game in any fashion, constantly leaving may lead to rank decreases and eventually to dropping character levels.

The update also automatically tracks all quits and betrayals, and also monitors those who do it more often than what is considered normal. Action will be done against those who have the habit of constantly committing these offenses.

All of the games, from "Halo CE: Anniversary" to "Halo 4" get to receive improvements, with the most notable being the updates to "Halo 3." "Halo 3" receives an update that allows editing to include all game types. The audio, particularly weapon sound effects, have also been significantly improved.

The UI is also slightly altered and updated. Notification messages and stability are the two main updates for the title menu while "Halo 2" to "Halo 4" receive improved campaign career stats tracking and improved playlists. Gameplay stability, particularly for multiplayer, are also improved for the title.

In terms of achievements, the update fixes an issue that causes the "The Guardians are Coming" achievement to not unlock as scripted as well as one that causes complications with Spartan Ops achievements.

"Halo: The Master Chief Collection" will follow this update with the planned inclusion of the "Halo 3: ODST" campaign and a remake of the Relic multiplayer map.
