The injury bug is still present for the New England Patriots and this time, running back LeGarrette Blount is the victim, as a hip injury suffered in last Sunday's win over the Houston Texans keeps him out for the remainder of the season.

Blount's injury is a tough blow for the Patriots since he is their leading rusher and will be joining left tackle Nate Solder and running back Dion Lewis as key players also out due to injury.

Playing in 12 of New England's 13 games this season, Blount has 165 carries for 703 yards with six touchdowns, and along with his rushing game also has six receptions for 43 yards and one touchdown.

In a report on the Patriots' website, the team placed Blount on the season-ending injured reserve (IR) Wednesday due to the injury.

Because of Blount's injury, the Pats are down to two running backs in their roster and these are Brandon Bolden and James White, although they have Trey Williams who is a member of the practice squad.

But according to ESPN, New England immediately made moves in its attempt to address the issue at the running back position.

One of these moves is meeting (preliminary) with veteran free agent running back Steven Jackson, with the report stating that there is mutual interest.

Jackson has played 11 season in the National Football League (NFL), nine for the St. Louis Rams, and two for the Atlanta Falcons.

Along with meeting Jackson, the Pats also signed running back Montee Ball to the practice squad and held a workout for rookie running back Alonzo Harris, ESPN added.

As the 2015 regular season is about to close and the playoff approaches, the defending champions should make quick decisions to address all of their roster issues especially on offense.

The Patriots are currently at 11–2 and with their record will very likely be sealing the top spot in the American Football Conference (AFC) East as they head to the postseason.
